Space Planning We develop space plans for clients and architects who are building new facilities, or remodeling or reorganizing the spaces in existing facilities. Space planning is the graphic illustration and interpretation of the progamming requirements. It identifies locations for the fixed architectural elements that define the areas, the furniture and equipment placement and the entries, corridors and other points of access. Our CAD drawings are typically developed in several project phases: Schematic design, design development and contract documents. Block Space Planning Space Planning begins with the allocation of blocks of space to various functional areas. Once these "Block Plans" are finalized, the next step is to differentiate the individual functions in each block area. These are the Individual Space Allocation Plans (see example.) Final Space Plans Final Space Plans are developed after the Individual Space Allocation plans are approved. These plans will locate all individual functional areas and include the layouts of all the furniture, fixtures and equipment (see example). Interior Design Interior design incorporates the use of colors, finishes, materials and furnishings to define the character of the work environment. Whether the facility and its furnishings are new or existing, careful coordination of these design elements enhances the functional and aesthetic design of the interior spaces. We work closely with the client and other design professionals throughout the project to provide usable, attractive and cost effective interior design solutions. See a project example.
